Tucked away down a country side-road with grass growing down the middle, sits one of the most romantic stately homes I have been to. We heard that Hindringham Hall was a “hidden gem”. Being sceptics, and superlatives being overused in modern media, we thought it would be a ‘nice’ place.
We were ever so pleasantly surprised to find so much more. Not having a huge park like Holkham, Hindringham Hall is the sort of place you can actually fantasise about living in. The moat with black swans and scented climbing roses add a sensual touch to the Tudor main house. Having an allotment the kitchen garden is an aspiration without feeling it to be out of reach. (Which of course it is!) There is a tea room on site to lounge in while enjoying the view, and self catering cottages on site. We have marked the dates they offer a tour on the inside of the house in our diary. A great find.
